Ottawa - Matt Linder

Watson Elite Baseball is excited to announce the commitment of Austin and Myles Wall to play baseball with the Victoria Golden Tide in the CCBL(Canadian College Baseball League) while continuing their education out west.

The twins have been a staple in the program sharing the middle infield since coming to the program in 2018.  Myles, a right-handed hitter who splits time between SS/2B while batting leading off a large chunk of the time.  Austin converted from outfield to infield when joining our program and recently developed into a switch hitting middle-infielder, who also shares lead-off duties with Myles.

Current hitting coach of the Victoria HarbourCats of the WCBL, and now GoldenTide Manager, Curtis Pelletier said of the twins, “I’m really excited for our city to land Austin and Myles. Recruiting nationally right now is quite challenging so it requires a lot of conversations with coaches and trusted relationships. I got nothing but great reports on these two and their family so it was a no brainer to go after them.  It means a great deal to the GoldenTide that athletes and families are putting their trust into us without having stepped on-field. We take this as a great responsibility to prove everybody right. Our expectations out of all our athletes will be to maintain and grow the level of integrity and work ethic that got them to Victoria. We are excited to get going in September and will have a championship on our mind from our first steps on the field.”

Myles and Austin said “Choosing Victoria was a great fit for us. The warm climate, the opportunity to play in our first year, and the fact that we have friends and family in Victoria all lent itself to this decision to join the Golden Tide. Another big factor was that we can pursue baseball while we continue to develop under great coaching. Our time with Watson Elite has set the groundwork for these next steps. Since our first practice, we knew that this (Watson Elite) was the best place for us. Tanner and staff have done a great job balancing development, the desire to win, and on-field competitiveness.”

The twins credit Greg Hamilton and Tanner Watson for helping them on and off the field, giving them an  environment to thrive and helping them find a great post secondary fit for schooling and baseball.  Tanner said “The energy, compete level and coachability the players bring to our program is a great add for the Golden Tide. These are two great young men that will definitely have an impact from Day 1. We are excited for them as they enter their next chapter”.

As Austin and Myles prepare to head west for fall 2021, they still have their eye on the competition of the 2021 season and first for Watson Elite in the Canadian Premier Baseball League.
